Palhaçadas de Deus XVI

"the song is a cover version of the David Bowie track LADY GRINNING SOUL from his ALADDIN SANE album by the late and great TALLY BROWN, a New York underground icon, who starred in early ANDY WARHOL films and studied singing with LEONARD BERNSTEIN. Song is taken from the brillian hommage-film TALLY BROWN NEW YORK by german director ROSA VON PRAUNHEIM. I like the way TALLY BROWN is singing and that she is singing in first person singular, whereas the original Bowie-lyrics are in third person singular.Video-footage is taken from two silent movies: first one is SALOME by CHARLES BRYANT, starring wild Hollwood actress ALLA NAZIMOVA (not to be seen in this clip). The film, shot in 1923 is camp as camp can be and highly outrageous. Hailed as America's first art film. Gossip says, that the whole male crew and cast of that film was gay. A film like that was never done again. The footage taken from this film shows actor MITCHELL LEWIS as HEROD.Second film is PICCADILLY by E.A.DUPONT, shot in 1929 and starring ANNA MAY WONG as a night club dancer. Don't you think the beginning of that clip shows ANNA MAY WONG playing the "luftpiano", similar to famous luftguitar - playing ;-) "
